Review for Bob the Littlest Dinosaur

Tired of being the smallest dinosaur, Bob sets out on an adventure to change his appearance. After facing many obstacles, Bob decides that being small isn't as bad as he thought it was.

When the wizards steals all the color from Bob's home, the littlest dinosaur goes in search of the color fairies. But when they refuse to help simply because he's different, he has to find another way to restore the colors.

Bob the Littlest Dinosaur was a cute story about Bob's adventure as he tries to find a way to be big like his family. In so doing, he learned to appreciate himself as he is and to realize that size does not matter as much as the things he can do, no matter how big or small. It was about believing in yourself and it's a great story for teaching that concept. It was a cute story, fun to read, and I would read it to any of the children in my life.

Bob and the Color Fairy is a story about Bob and his family losing all the color from their land. Bob then goes on a quest to get a color fairy to help him get the color back. He encounters fairies who don't want to help him because they are afraid, but he also encounters a fairy who is different. Together they learn that being different isn't a bad thing, sometimes being different is exactly what you need to help each other. And you don't have to be the same to like each other. Super cute story -  would definitely read it to the kids.

Review - Time Twist

Arianna Miller tosses her luggage and her hopes into her Subaru and sets out to prove her talent—by decorating a Victorian mansion thirty miles from nowhere. She needs a fresh start and a break from painful memories. However, she is soon haunted by reminders of her past and endangered by foreboding mysteries.

Christopher Flemming is determined to stop his father's crime spree, which began in nineteenth century London and now threatens present day Colorado. He must find and destroy the time-traveling machine that brought them forward in time. More importantly, he needs to save Arianna.
Because of Christopher's blurred focus, Arianna finds her attraction to him untenable. She wants to help him, but he refuses to reveal his connection to the mansion.

Everything changes when Arianna stumbles onto the time machine before Christopher does. Will her future end up in the past?

This was a unique an interesting idea, I liked the idea of the time travel, of the son racing against time - literally - with the father. The characters were fun to watch, the 19th-century characters living in the modern day and trying to figure out modern life. My heart went out to the characters as well, specifically the mother and siblings as they struggled through their own challenges. It was nice3 to see their relationship grow and watch them figure out both their own lives and the mutual relationship they were trying to figure out. I enjoyed the read, it was a fun twist and I highly recommend it.

Her four daughters have left her nest empty, but they return often with grandchildren who bring real fun and adventure to her life. And thankfully, Jeanie's awesome husband, Rick, loves to join in on all her escapades.

A good romance will always capture Jeanie's attention; add suspense or historical ties and she's totally hooked. She's the author of a time-traveling adventure, Time Twist—the first of a romantic/suspense series with a twist of paranormal; an historical fiction novel, As Ever Yours, based on the lives of her grandparents, and a children's Christmas book, I Don't Know Why I Did It.

Jeanie is passionate about writing, and she always has a new story to delve into or an older one to revise. She began by writing poetry and music, which she still enjoys, but now novels have moved to the forefront of her avocational pursuits.
When she's not spoiling her grandchildren, Jeanie spends her free time curled up with a good book or typing away on her most recent mystery, adventure or romance.

Review - My Hands Hold My Story

For fans of A Knight of Silence and Read My Lips comes a YA historical western full of grit and heart...

In 1874, Ivy Steele's deafness is more than a handicap. It's a disease. Surrounded by a family that doesn't understand her, she's learned to cope and find solace where she can. Then, the unexpected happens. Her aunt dies, and her uncle sends her away to rejoin her father's family in Montana.

Left to fend for herself, after the companion hired to escort her abandons her, sixteen-year-old Ivy faces continual hardship and danger. Several men see an unaccompanied Ivy as a flower ripe for the picking, and things only get worse when masked men hold up their stagecoach.

Barely scraping through, Ivy makes it to Montana with her nerves shaken and what little money she has in her boot. Expecting a peaceful if not affectionate welcome, Ivy finds herself in greater hardship than she's ever known.

Surrounded by a stepfamily that hates her, and flung into a life where hearing is vital, Ivy finds solace in a handsome cowboy named Remy. But things with her new family are not what they seem. And Ivy is about to find out that the danger she faced on the journey west, has followed her to Montana...

Bethany Swafford dazzles with her stunning young adult debut, introducing a strong heroine, the hardships of frontier life, shocking twists, and a slow-burning romance that will leave you wanting more.

Third place winner of the 2018 Rosemary Award

I really enjoyed this story, probably more than I thought I would. I was hesitant at first because I was a little nervous of the dangers a deaf girl might face in the west and the men trying to take advantage of her. Thankfully the book did not go in the very dark direction it could have gone, but that doesn't mean she didn't have hard trials. Bethany did a great job of getting me into the characters head, feeling with and for her, wanting to protect her and desperately wanting justice to be done. I loved getting to know the character, loved hating her enemies, love loving those she loved, and loved seeing the changes in everyone as the story progressed. I admit that the end came too soon. I feel like there was just that glimmer of hope and then it was over, so I hope that there is more to learn about her and her story as she goes forward, perhaps a second story of her future. But overall I enjoyed it, I would and have already recommended it, and it's a great read. It held my attention and wouldn't let it go.

For as long as she can remember, Bethany Swafford has loved reading books. That love of words extended to writing as she grew older and when it became more difficult to find a ‘clean’ book, she determined to write her own. Among her favorite authors is Jane Austen, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Georgette Heyer.

When she doesn’t have pen to paper (or fingertips to laptop keyboard), she can generally be found with a book in hand. In her spare time, Bethany reviews books for a book site called More Than A Review.

Jaguar Cover Reveal!!!

C.A. Gray is the author of the YA Fantasy PIERCING THE VEIL trilogy, as well as the YA Dystopian trilogy, THE LIBERTY BOX. By day, she is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), with a primary care practice in Tucson, AZ. Additionally, she writes medical books under her real name.

Her favorite authors include J.K. Rowling and Suzanne Collins, and she also reads an exceptional amount of non-fiction. She is blessed with exceptionally supportive family and friends, and thanks God for them every single day!

Synopsis:

Sometimes the person you lie to the most is yourself.

The Silver Six have blown the Renegades’ underground compound to bits, killing several of Rebecca’s best friends in the process—and to her horror, the boy Rebecca had convinced herself she loved for all these years was the one to betray them all. At the same time, General Specs, the company Liam was once slated to inherit, has developed a superintelligent robot called Jaguar which is quickly becoming godlike in her omniscience. As the remaining Renegades flee to their last bastion of safety in the Caribbean, Liam makes his way back to London, in a last ditch effort to convince his father to destroy Jaguar before it’s too late.

Rebecca, meanwhile, finally understands her own heart: she never loved Andy. He was merely a ‘safe’ choice who would never require anything of her. Liam, on the other hand, exasperating as he was, had seen past her defenses. All of his teasing and provoking had been his attempt to get her to be real with him—but the more he made her feel, the further she had retreated. She had even substituted her companion bot Madeline for real, deep human friendships, and for the same reason: she’d been avoiding love to protect herself from another loss like the one she had experienced when her father was killed for the Renegades’ cause. Ironically, she only realizes this once Liam is on his way to a similar fate.  But she’ll be damned if she lets him go without a fight.

This high stakes conclusion to the Uncanny Valley Trilogy envisions a world not too far off from our own, in which superintelligence is a reality, humanoid bots have supplanted human power and influence, and there are eyes watching and reporting our every move. If humanity is to survive, the Renegades will have to galvanize support across the globe, under the radar—and it will require every last bit of ingenuity they possess. But is attempting to outwit a superintelligent being really the answer? Or will it require something much more fundamentally human?

And now for the Cover

Let's take a look inside the book with a Snippet:

“He can’t help us!” I shouted to Rick, “He’s unconscious!”
With one glance back at the hovercraft, Rick tossed the hammer back inside and barked at Francis, “Cover us!”
“What do you think I’m doing?” Francis yelled back.
I realized Rick must have sliced open his hand on the jagged glass when he scooped Liam up over one shoulder, leaving trails of blood on his hospital gown. Rick scrambled back to the window, just as the chair in the doorframe slid all the way loose.
“Closer!” Francis shouted to the hovercraft pilot bot. The hovercraft scraped the ledge now, but it was enough for Rick to leap up to the ledge and haul Liam’s shoulders aboard. I grabbed his legs, held them up, and shoved.
“Stop!” called the bots in the doorframe. Francis opened fire, and I could hear the bullets glancing off the bots’ metallic bodies. You have to shoot them in the eyes! I thought frantically. The humanoid bots behind us fired bullets out of their wrists. Searing pain shot through my shoulder, just as a strong arm locked around my waist. Francis gave a cry, and just before I collapsed on top of Liam’s limp form, I saw the blossom of blood spreading across the side of Francis’s t-shirt. His face went white, and he let out a gurgle.
No, I thought, just as Rick shouted at the pilot bot, “Go go go!” Then we rocketed up, leaving my stomach on the ground below.

About the Narrator

Born in the eighties, her formative years in the nineties, Rebecca's taste in music and fashion never really had a chance. Fortunately, you can't tell these things from her writing or voice over work. Her first novel, Trespasser, is as dark as her neon is bright, and you'd never guess from hearing her that she's narrating science fiction in nothing but unicorn pants.

Currently residing in London, Rebecca is passionate about travel, and has a good- albeit sometimes dubious- ear for accents. She graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a degree in something or other, has a background in musical theatre, a past career in burlesque, and is a classically trained opera singer. Oh, and she likes greyhounds. And wine.

Taran Elijah’s quest for knowledge uncovers a plot that threatens the world...

In Albia, the fourth realm, the precious Artesan gift is dying. Although born to the craft, Taran is struggling to achieve his potential. Against his friends' advice, he embarks on a foolhardy plan to acquire the teaching he craves. Alone, he crosses into Andaryon, the fifth realm, but instead of finding a mentor, he stumbles upon a treacherous plot.

In the wake of Taran's actions, Albia suffers a series of vicious raids, and Major Sullyan of the High King's forces is sent to oppose them. But a dark and treacherous force is moving through the realms, and both Taran and Sullyan will feel its power. Their craft, the lives of their friends, the very existence of their realm are under threat unless they expose and oppose the evil.

Review:
"Cas Peace's Artesans of Albia trilogy immediately sweeps you away:  the drama starts with King's Envoy, continues unabated in King's Champion, and climaxes in King's Artesan, yet each volume is complete, satisfying.  The Artesan series  propels you into a world so deftly written that you see, feel, touch, and even smell each twist and turn. These nesting novels are evocative, hauntingly real. Smart. Powerful. Compelling. The trilogy teems with finely drawn characters, heroes and villains and societies worth knowing; with stories so organic and yet iconic you know you've found another home—in Albia. So start reading now. I, for one, can't wait to find out what will happen next.

Janet E Morris: Bestselling Author of The Sacred Band of Stepsons seriesthe Dream Dancer series; I, the Sun; Outpassage; The Silistra Quartet;and editor of the Bangsian In Hell seriesFamed contributor to the shared universe fantasy series, Thieves World.

I enjoy this story - I had read it once before a year or so ago, but I had forgotten so much of it. So it was fun to hear the story again - I really do love it and got drawn in again to the incredible story Cas has created. But what I loved most about the audio version was the narrator was incredible, doing voices and pauses and intensity at the right time to bring this book to life. It was amazing to listen to her read it. And the combination of an incredible story, by Author Cas Peace, and an amazing Narrator in Rebecca McKernan - it was incredible! I can't wait for the other books in this series. I recommend this to anyone and everyone who enjoys books, or anyone who is trying to get into reading again. Audio is a great way to get into books and this one is perfect! Highly recommend the book and also the audio book!

Narrator Interview

Narrator: Rebecca McKernan
Book: The Kings Envoy

1. What got you into narrating books?

I've always been a bit of a book obsessive- they're really the only thing I keep around the house. When a friend mentioned that she thought I had a nice voice, and had I considered narrating audio books, a simple Google was all it took to get me on this pathway. I've never looked back.

2. Do you write books yourself or just read other peoples' books?

I'm a writer as well as a narrator. I've just finished my first full length fictional novel- a dystopian piece of speculative literary fiction called 'Trespasser', which I'm currently looking for representation for. I'm a published travel writer, but this is my first foray into the world of traditional publishing.

3. Who was your favorite character to voice in this book?

I enjoyed voicing Sully- she took a few attempts to get right, as I needed the right balance of lilting gentleness, and incredible strength. I liked the challenge, and the satisfaction that came when I settled into her character. I also really loved Bull, but I think that may be because I love his character so much.

4. When you are not narrating books, what do you enjoy to do?

Travel is probably my number one passion. I've just moved to one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, so I'm currently loving exploring locally with my old dog. I also love to cook- and as my boyfriend is the most fantastic chef, I love to eat, too!

5. What suggestions/insight would you offer to others who might be looking into book narration?

As with any job in performance or acting, be prepared for rejection. But try to see it as a positive thing, see how you can learn from any constructive feedback you might get. And don't take it personally. Art is so subjective. Some people are going to love you, some won't. It doesn't mean you're not fabulous, and don't have the potential to be successful. Just keep at it, and always try to find ways you can tighten up your game, even a little.

6. Tell us a story about yourself, it can be fun, sad, eventful, scary, or whatever, just make it yours.

Oh gosh, that is so broad! I'm not sure I can think of a specific story, but some highlights of my glamorous performance career so far- which has involved stage, screen, musical theatre and performance art- are: getting drunk with Christian Slater on the Isle of Mann; standing holding a fibreglass wall for 10 hours in a row, 2 days straight, with only my lips poking through specially cut out gaps in the material as a piece of performance art (unsurprisingly, the director wasn't performing. It was one of the most painful things I've ever done); and having to slash my way out of a tent I was staying in in the south of France after being trapped by a massive spider who'd taken up residence on the door. I was pretty late for that gig.
