Sixth U.S. president John Quincy Adams, a man who knew a lot about effective leadership, maintained that the most successful people were those whose actions inspired others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. These people were the ones who left the sidelines, entered the fray, and threw themselves into life. They were the ones who forged a nation and achieved the impossible. They were the ones who truly connected to life, to others, and to themselves.

Today, the world needs human connection more than ever. It needs people who strive for deeper relationships, not just surface recognition, who come at life with the enthusiasm, energy, and excitement that bind people together. These people have a powerful impact on all around them.

Leadership guru Art Coombs combines fresh perspectives, profound experience, engaging information, and unforgettable stories into a simple formula that will result in rich connections as you live, laugh, learn, love, and lead those who mean the most to you. Begin today to live the authentic, abundant life you were meant to as you build and shape the connections that change everything.

I am a fiction reader 90% of the time, but every now and then and venture into Non-fiction and I am so glad that I did for this book. This book really spoke to me on a personal level  and as a leader. I laughed out loud at several parts, and found so many things I could implement into my own life on all levels. In leading I realized how I could improve, and in love and laughter I realized I could give so much more. Plus it really made me step back and assess if I was really living life and enjoying it, or just working all my time away - and for what? Art wove together lessons and stories, amusing tales and honest truths to create a wonderful book. It will apply to everyone in some aspect and I highly recommend it. I know I will be reading it again and I encourage you to do the same! It is absolutely worth your time!

2.     I have four sons, two daughters, and ten grandchildren.
3.     I'm a Navy brat who joined the Army.
4.     I was one of the first women in my newly integrated Army unit. The first gal got there that morning, and I arrived in the evening. It can be tough being a groundbreaker.
5.     The ninth grade school the Navy sent us to in San Francisco was in a very poor section of the city and was a dangerous place to be. I made sure to get straight A's so I could qualify to attend an academic high school and avoid going to the high school that the junior high school fed into.
6.     I'm a karate black belt and didn't start training until the month I turned 50.
7.     I've lived in four countries on three continents (well, one was actually a series of islands)
8.     In my day job, I run municipal elections for my city--this knowledge plays a huge role in the storyline for Swing Vote, Safe Harbors #3.
9.     I love Regency romances and hope one day to attend a Regency ball.
10.  I graduated from high school early, went away to a semester of college, and returned to walk with my class. This was back in the day before concurrent college enrollment and kids graduating from high school with college associate degrees. It was a big deal--then. :D

The 3rd book in the 1st of several trilogies featuring Maura & her family!

Maura has never felt so alone in her life…nor has her existence ever been so overshadowed by peril…

Not only do both her parents—her distant but loving mother and recently- returned father—remain absent from her life, but due to the hideous error in judgement executed in collusion with her best friend, Valdamir, and adoptive sister, Susie, Maura has been cut off from the pair’s friendship and support, forbidden by both her father and the fallout from the dire outcome to see either of them. The heartbreak she suffers, brought on by the weight of these estrangements, is only intensified by the continued mysterious absence of her supernaturally-destined mate, Ron…whose disappearance delivers grave consequences Maura would have never dreamed possible…

Despised by her vampire cousin, Aldiva, for reasons Maura cannot yet comprehend, the young changeling will be forced to guard her back with every step, as she comes to realize this member of her vampire family would love nothing more than to bring about her demise. Aldiva’s wrath calls forth other members from both Vancouver covens, forcing them to rush to Maura’s aid—even though her father, their king, has expressly forbidden the other vampires to initiate contact with his daughter. Will her extended family on Vancouver Island obey, abandoning Maura to her doom, or will they instead rebel against Maxwell’s wishes in order to save her life?

In addition to the menace personified in her unsolicited enemy, the unlikely vampire princess will find herself drowning as she is pulled down into the depths of a far more devastating crisis…one which may condemn her to a fate she considers much more undesirable than death. But in order to tear herself free from the deadly pull which is drawing her under, Maura must enlist the help of her preternatural family, exposing her newfound friends to a danger none of them have ever had the misfortune to face before. Can she be saved or will the riptide drag Maura under…along with those she loves the most…

In this third and final book of The Maura DeLuca Trilogy, the first of several trilogies to come, the reader will delve even deeper into the secrets guarded by Maura’s father, the mystery of Ron’s role in her life and the identities of the mysterious Vancouver Island Coven members who have, up until now, remained hidden in the shadows. This trilogy rounds out the segment of Maura’s life during which she discovers she is a member of The Born—a human destined to complete her transformation into a vampire! This series of young adult fantasy novels has been enjoyed by readers of nearly every age and are found by them to be dramatically different from any other vampire books they have read in the past. Grace from the Fall Review

Mike Mabe is a young man ready to graduate from high school, but ends up in prison instead. Angry and confused, he wants a better life.

Given a sentence of over a year, he must learn how to cope with prison while discovering that better life. With the aid of his family and some unlikely relationships, he begins to find that better life.

Based on a true story, Mike fights the daily inward and outward battles to avoid prison becoming a permanent part of his future.

Check out this amazing Book Trailer!

When I got this book I thought it was going to be more about how hard prison life is and maybe even a bit preachy about redemption and turning to the Lord for help. But what I found was an intriguing story of a young man who was in a bad situation and made some bad choices, but then used the time he had to choose to do better, turn his life around, and find a way to make the best of what he had before him. He choose to not fight when he could have, to not let anger overwhelm him, and to prove to himself that he could do better. I was really impressed by his story, and found myself rooting for him to reach his goals. It was an easy read and I highly recommend it!

Michael Mabe is no stranger to adversity. As a young man recently graduated from high school, he was arrested for crimes he committed in his youth. While his friends were making plans to attend college, he was sent to prison for a year and a half.

Thirteen years later, Michael has completely changed the direction of his life. He is married, has three kids, graduated from college with a 3.7 GPA, and has experienced success as a professional. Change did not come without significant challenges.

The author of the biographical fiction, entitled ‘Grace From The Fall,’ Michael encourages people to be something better than the day before.
