Portrait of a Snow Queen Tour and Review

An epic fantasy of forbidden romance that chronicles the coming of age of a princess who is possessed by the Snow Queen and fated to rule her kingdom with a strong hand and icy heart.

As a child, Princess Freyja looked into the Snow Queen’s cursed mirror - and was changed.

Now an aloof and difficult young woman with a wit as sharp as her tongue, the future monarch is in need of a tutor. And Ambrose, a failed poet, is in need of a teaching position. He just never suspected how dangerous the extracurricular activities would be!

Soon, Ambrose finds himself on a grand adventure fighting to save the vexing but alluring princess from the court occult conspiracies that have targeted her. He is opposed not only by sorcerers and the evil Snow Queen, but also the icy royal damsel who holds his heart.

Will Ambrose’s love cause Freyja to thaw…or will she put him in the deep freeze instead?

Sensuous, suspenseful, supernatural and filled with witty banter, this romantic fantasy will both turn up the heat and leave you thoroughly frost smitten!

Review Done by a guest reviewer - Amber:

When I started reading The Snow Queen, I was immediately intrigued by the idea of a girl possessed by a supernatural queen. The book also set up a beautiful setting, full of intriguing characters and dropped some foreshadowing that excited me to keep going. If this book has one thing, it is very thorough. It has very rich language, deep discussions, very passionate characters, and in-depth descriptions of whatever is happening. This should have made the book very yummy to read, but instead it just made it thick, tepid, and awkward. It disturbed me at a few parts, made me uncomfortable at a few others, and about half of the time I was annoyed with the characters and bored. The story became very tepid for most of the 1st part. The plot kept moving, but it felt sluggish. It got better when we got into the second part, and by the end of that section and the third, the plot was again intriguing and clipping along at a good pace. But it was not enough to save the characters character, and when the story ended on a weak cliff hanger, I cringed at the thought of reading a second book. One good thing the book had was a sense of humor. I laughed far more than once at the banter and ridiculous circumstances. I loved the polar bear, Theodore, and the side characters provided sweet relief to the tension of the main plot. Maybe I just couldn’t appreciate this book, so feel free to give it a try and see for yourself.

This was a cute book. It reminded me of the game we used to play as kids "Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar" which brings back the fun of childhood and nostalgia of the family time.
This book also has its own fun twist that takes kids on a little hunt finding clues and trying to figure out where the cookies went. Plus it also has a delicious and fun chocolate chip cookie at the end that you can make with your kids after reading the book!
I definitely recommend it for a fun read.

I’m a retired high school English teacher. A devourer of books growing up, my profession introduced me to writings and authors from times long past. Through my studies and teaching, I fell in love with the Ancient and Medieval Worlds. Now, I hope to inspire young readers and those Young-at-Heart to read more through my Tales and Legends for Reluctant Readers set in these worlds—Ancient Egypt, Medieval Wales, and coming soon, a hair-raising adventure through ancient worlds in search of 5 rare Phoenix Feathers.

All of my books come with Free study guides and/or extensive Back-of-the-Book materials.

My husband and I love to travel. In 2008, we spent three weeks in Egypt traveling by local train from one end of the country to the other; in 2014, we spent three weeks in the UK driving over 1700 miles through England, Wales, and Scotland; and in 2016, we spent a week in Iceland. We’ve also traveled to Mexico, Jamaica, and Aruba. Our next big adventure will be to Greece and Italy.

When I’m not writing or traveling, our 4 grandkids keep us busy.

I had my 11-year old read these books and she loved them! Here are her reviews, in  her own words:

Guinevere: On the Eve of Legend Review-

I liked how exciting, upbeat, and adventurous Guinevere: On the Eve of Legend is. Guinevere is
rebellious, fun, and nowhere close to perfect. I wish there were more moments where you see
Guinevere and King Arthur’s relationship. Overall, I loved this book and the whole series is one
of my favorites. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes fantasy, history, and high
packed adventures.

Guinevere: At the Dawn of Legend Review-

Guinevere: At the Dawn of Legend is like the first, but Guinevere is more mature as she should be.
Through the book many more excitement and adventures happen that keeps you exstatic to read
more. I, honestly, can’t think of a single thing I would change in this spectacular book. I savored
every moment in this book. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes fantasy, history,
and high packed adventures.

Guinevere: The Legend Review-

Guinevere: The Legend is an exhilarating book. So much of the story I was on the edge of my seat
reading for hours straight. I would add an epilogue at the end of the story, just to get a little feel for
how Guinevere’s changed life is. In general, I loved this book and will probably read the series again
someday. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes fantasy, history, and high packed
adventures.
