I am not a shy person .... or so most people think :)
Here is the truth. I actually am very nervous when I have to get in front of groups of people. One on one I'm probably ok, but the more people there are, the more I shake and sweat and panic.
So what do I do? I fake it! I make myself as visible as possible, pretend I totally have myself under control, get out there, get loud, get talkative, and make everyone thing I'm super confident.
It works every time!
Now you might ask why I do this - why I wouldn't just duck to the back and revel in my nervousness? Well, the answer is clear. The more I fake confidence, the more confidence I actually find in myself.
The more visible I am: the more friends I make, the more I can pitch my book, the more I can network and share interests, and the more I get known.
If I want to do well in my writing, networking, publicist work, and also in life, I have to make myself visible and put myself out there to get to know others and get known.
What do you do to become more visible?
Absolutely! It may never get easier, but it won't get harder! And you can say to yourself, "I've done this before, I can do this again."
